Dressin up in the Neighborhood👖✨

What started as a simple invite to my fashion friend’s styling class at Good Neighbor turned into a night of styling and stunting around the store in downtown Detroit.

I had arrived a little behind schedule, but hopping into the discussions about how different fall/winter garments can be styled according to the fit and fabric was just the start to us dressin up. Denim on denim on, white button ups, blazers and sweaters galore. Everyone looked so good, it had me thinking where should I begin.

Hmmmm…As I strolled through store, I wandered off into my own world and glided my fingers across the fabrics until a feel and look invited me to try the garments on.

  • A cropped trench coat with marble buttons

  • A ribbed, long sleeve sweater with slits up the wrist

  • And a mini skirt with a slit on the hip

After selecting my garments, I continued walking through the store and became more  present with the experience at hand. A light crowd of clients shopping around, a designated stylist on hand and light refreshments to enhance the socialization. It was the perfect unexpected shopping trip✨

Style Gems for Dressin up in Stores:

  • Once you find item(s) you like, try putting together an outfit before trying on the garment(s).

  • even if you aren’t planning to buy the full outfit, it will give you an idea of what the garment(s) will look like based on what you have in mind.

  • Once you have on your garments, get a literal feel for the fabrics and grow aware of your confidence.

  • Remember you may need to pull your hair back/up and grab accessories to get a better idea.

  • Be vulnerable, be kind to yourself and be you; dressin up is meant to be fun.

  • Remember to stick to your budget and get the piece(s) you really have intentions to wear.
