You ever had a drawer or shelf full of facial care products that you don’t even use? Well I used to be that person until I realized that all of the products I had weren’t clearing my face up because I was using too many different products. So I got rid of the products I had and decided to start a natural face care journey.
The Journey Pt. 1
I started off using shea moisture’s black soap along with tea tree oil. This dynamic duo really started clearing up my dark spots and blemishes after about two months of consistent use. With the black soap I would wash my face in the morning and and at night, but my use of the tea tree oil was quite different.
Because my face gets oily throughout the day, I would only use a little bit of tea tree in the morning (just enough to cover up the ashy-ness to be exact). But at night time, after using the black soap, I would drown my face in tea tree oil (that way I get the full effect of it while I’m sleeping).
I did that same routine for about a year and a half and then decide to switch it up again, simply because I was free of blemishes and scars and wanted to turn my focus to keeping clear, healthy skin (no heat bumps or clogged pores).
The Journey Pt. 2
As I was scrolling on insta one day, I saw this girl I know talking about what she uses on her face to keep it so clear: rubbing alcohol. Now, when I first watched the video I didn’t immediately think to try it, but after a while it sunk into my head that I should give it a try.
I started using the alcohol how I did before (in the morning and at night), but I decided to add my own twist: use the green alcohol at night and use regular rubbing alcohol in the mornings. Since I had never used alcohol on my face this much, to bring a sense of balance so I wouldn’t start breaking out or developing super dry skin.
To moisturize my face I still use the same morning and night regime, but instead of tea tree oil I’ve been using cocoa butter. In my opinion it still gives off the same effect as tea tree when it comes to moisturizing.
I’ve been using these products in my routine for about two months now and have had nothing less than amazing results. I’m not sure how long I’ll go using this new dynamic duo, but one thing I’ve learned about my face is to keep it simple and natural.
