When I worked at H&M it was always some new pieces (mainly online returns) coming into the store that were either hit or miss. Some of my coworkers used to put things on hold just so I could see what it was when I came back in.
One day, when I came in, someone had returned a white, distressed denim jacket and a pink, distressed denim jacket. I tried on both contemplating which looked better, but I didn't make a purchase that same day. Long story short, I ended up purchasing both jackets, but for some reason I gravitated towards the white one more.
In the summer time, my go-to jacket is always a blue jean one, but once I bought my new white denim jacket, I had no idea it was going to change my life. Who would’ve guessed that a white, distressed denim jacket would become a signature piece of mines when I already had a committed love affair with my blue jean jacket? Sure as hell wasn’t me. The first time I wore the jacket, I played it real simple and paired it with a pink, velvet two-piece set and some white sandals that have pearls on them.
Because it’s distressed it makes it easier to dress it up or down in any outfit. And this is where the problem came in. When I realized that this jacket could fit in with several of my outfits, my love affair with the blue jean jacket slowly started to diminish, making its way to the island of misfits.
I didn't feel bad though because it was time for something new and sometimes we don't realize it until something different comes along.
